HAUNTED THEATRE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. Is it scary?
A. HAUNTED THEATRE exists to scare – we challenge ourselves every year to be more suspenseful, to cause more fear than the year before.

Q. But is it really scary?
A. How scared you get is up to you. We provide what we feel is the scariest haunted house in the state. We have created a theatrical walk-though show where cast members and guests interact in a dark world of suspense and terror.

Q. Will the monsters grab or touch me?
A. The theory is that if you don't touch them, they won't grab you. Bear in mind that this is a work in progress and doesn't always go according to plan! Of course, in the darker areas, something may accidentally bump into you but our cast members will probably not grab you. You may be grabbed by one of the members of your own group who is too terrified to continue without your help.

Q. Are there guides?
A. Nope. If you are too afraid to continue, someone will have to escort you out. There are no refunds if this occurs. There are both evil and “friendly” monsters in the haunt. We do have security people stationed throughout the haunt, and certain groups may have security people assigned to follow them. An example: Any groups who look like they might have a tendency toward aggressive behavior, and anyone smelling of alcohol will have a friendly security staffer following them as they take their tour.

Q: I don't want any security person following my group!

A: Great! Here is what you do: Go to have a good time, not to impress anyone with how tough you are, and DON'T DRINK BEFORE YOU GO TO THE HAUNT. Many of our volunteer actors are young people, and their safety is a priority. If a guest acts aggressively toward any of our actors or property, that guest and their group will be quickly escorted out of the building by large men with no sense of humor.

Q. Is this for charity? Who gets the money?
A.  This event is a fundraiser for the theater group that operates the Pressroom Theatre – Mission Creek Players. Mission Creek Players lease the building from the Wenatchee World, and are a completely separate entity from the Wenatchee World. We are a 501-C3 non profit organization. We share the proceeds of the Haunted Theatre event with a local charity, and we partner with the Riverview Kiwanis to allow them to use the event as a fundraiser as well.

Q. Can I bring my kids?
A. Children under 10 will not be admitted. We provide an EXTREMELY frightening experience that may not be suited for those of an impressionable age, and we don't want to traumatize anyone. If any kids (or adults) in your group are too timid for it our security personnel will allow them to wait in the lobby till the rest of your group finishes the tour. There are no refunds once a ticket is purchased however.

Q. Are there tickets available before you open?
A. Pre-sale tickets are only available at the Center Seats Box Office at the Performing Arts Center of Wenatchee – by calling (509) 663-ARTS, or by visiting them at 123 N. Wenatchee Avenue. Service fees may apply.

Q. Is there a discount for children?
A. No. Again, we will not admit children under 10. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Every piece of printed or verbal advertising contains this information. Our shows are designed to be terrifying for adults. The fact is, most children will be too scared to continue, it then takes a cast member to escort them to the exit. So actually we should charge more!

Q. Are you handicapped accessible?
A. Absolutely! It probably won’t accommodate power chairs, but a normal wheelchair should work just fine, and a staff member can accompany your group if desired.

Q. Is it the same as last year?
A. Absolutely not! Haunted Theatre changes the entire map and every scene every year so that we can provide a uniquely terrifying experience!

Q. Is it as good as last year?
A. Better! We love to scare you. Our volunteers spend over 2,000 hours throughout the year to design the haunt and come up with new and better scares.

Q. Is the Haunt nothing more than black walls and monsters jumping out?
A. Haunted Theatre is an interactive event – there are mysteries and wonderful characters to discover! We spend thousands of dollars and hours to create new elaborate new sets each year. Yes there will be a black wall or two, and monsters will certainly be jumping out at you. If it didn't scare the pants off of you, we wouldn't do it!

Q. Can I bring my cell phone?
A. Sure, but be aware that we can not be responsible for any personal property you have with you, and we will certainly NOT stop to look for lost cell phones or pagers (or most anything else). If we happen to find them, they will be available at the ticket window the next night we are open.

Q. Is photography allowed?
A. Sorry, but no. There are many reasons for this including that a flash or strobe will temporarily blind our actors, it disrupts the other guest's experience, pausing to take pictures slows down the line behind you and infrared will probably show you areas we don't particularly want you to see!

Q. If I'm too scared can I get a refund?
A. We have a no refund policy. You have paid for us to scare you. We let you know it would be scary. If you are so scared that you can't go on, then we have done our job. If we have done our job then there is no reason for a refund.

Q. Can I get a refund if I don't have time to stand in line?
A. We have a no refund policy. We do not refund tickets for any reason. Please be aware, there is a line to enter the haunt. If you go early in the evening, or early in the run, you have a better chance for a shorter wait. You can also pay an extra $5 at the booth for a “Fast Pass” stamp on your ticket, which will put you in the short line for admittance.

Q. Under what circumstances do you give refunds?
A. We have a no refund policy. We never give refunds under any circumstances. Our volunteer organizers never want to be in the position of making value judgments on this issue. This is a charity event, and once we sell a ticket, it stays sold.

Q. Can I wear a costume?
A. You nay wear any costume you wish, however we do not allow masks or other face disguising techniques. Trust us; this is for the public's safety. It is too easy for a customer, in a mask, to do something inappropriate and then you, or us, have no way to identify them.

Q. How can I get more information?
A. If you have a question that was not answered here, email us HERE or call (509) 670-8233
